Dr Ir Fabrice DAGRAIN is Civil Engineer in Mining Engineering, graduated from Faculté Polytechnique de Mons, Belgium (1998), Master of Science from University of Minnesota, USA (2001), and PhD in Applied Sciences from Faculté Polytechnique de Mons, Belgium (2006).

His research projects at the University of Mons were related to the stone industry from the extraction of the stone in quarries to its application in civil engineering and patrimonial restoration. Its research topics of predilection are :

1. the physico-mechanical characterization of materials based on unconventional testing on small size samples,
2. the evaluation of the stone consolidation treatments used for patrimonial restoration and
3. the study of the destruction mechanisms with diamonds tools used for rock drilling and cutting and the optimization of the tools performances.

His work implies him more and more in the characterization of machines used in the stone industry. He is currently working on the development of a testing laboratory equipped with different cutting machines in order to bring his competences to companies which are interested in solving engineering problems and increasing performances on machines used in the stone industry.
